Crain's iPhone Application wins Lisagor Award
Crain's Chicago Business iPhone Golf Application was the recipient of the 2010 Peter Lisagor Award for Best Use of Digital Technology.
The Chicago Headline Club, the largest Society of Professional Journalists chapter in the country, established the Peter Lisagor Awards in 1977 to inspire Chicago-area journalists to follow Lisagor's outstanding example and to recognize truly superior contributions to journalism. Founded as Sigma Delta Chi in 1909, the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) is widely acknowledged as the voice of journalism and a leader in recognizing members of the profession for outstanding achievement.
The iphone Golf Application, developed for Crain's by PSC GROUP, LLC also was recognized earlier this year by Chicago Magazine as one of Chicago's best iPhone Applications.
"Crain’s Chicago Golf Guide is a great app for the weekend duffer. The app uses the iPhone’s location magic to find public courses near your current location and lists them by proximity. (For example, the app lists three courses less than 10 miles from my house and dozens within 20 miles.) You can also filter by price, course name, city, or course rating. But what makes Crain’s Chicago Golf Guide a hole-in-one is that it includes the price for a round of golf and cart fees, with a link to Google maps to take you there."
