Open Source

PSC is actively engaged in the open source community, participating in several open source projects, as well as implementing open source solutions for customers and pro-bono community projects.  Open source is providing senior management with a cost effective alternative to traditional software in challenging environments.  

In an October 12th, 2009 article entitled "Alternative IT", Information Week author Mary Hayes Weier summarized the situation nicely, "A grinding recession, paired with new choices in terms of online software, mobile computing, outsourcing, open source, and more, opens the door to change...CIOs are rethinking significant parts of their software strategies, considering alternatives to conventional licenses, maintenance, and fee structures, as well as alternatives to lengthy internal development cycles, complex customization, and long global rollouts and upgrades."
